Our Story

About Us

In 1959, Ed and Lynn Hogan founded Pleasant Holidays, the largest tour operator serving Hawaii. With the assets from the sale of the travel company in 1998, they created the Hogan Family Foundation to pursue their philanthropic interests.

Rather than retiring, the Hogans have focused their energies and interests into opportunities wherein they can give back to society, and the community in which they have worked and lived. By operating educational, humanitarian and civic-minded programs, the Foundation is creating environments where the spirit of entrepreneurialism can flourish and encourage the development of a more productive and contributory society.

Serving as an inspiration for young people everywhere, the Hogan legacy will be to demonstrate that through courage and compassion there is nothing that cannot be achieved.

The Hogan Family Foundation is an operating foundation, meaning that it disburses its assets solely in support of those programs that the Foundation itself creates and operates. While the Foundation does not give grants to charitable organizations, it instead creates ongoing programs that support worthwhile causes.

The Foundation is able to accept donations specifically designated for its programs.

The Foundation is a tax-exempt private operating foundation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
